WHY THE NAME?
Prior to opening Mishap, I had a lot of preconceptions about what made good, consistent espresso. I thought I needed to simplify flavors to make them more widely appealing to customers. In my many rounds of testing, however, I found that these blends just didn’t interest me. They weren’t bad, or unable to work for my needs, they were just… boring.
After a few rounds of less-than-enticing espresso, I decided to go a different direction, scrapping the coffee I had been prepared to use. Thus, creating an espresso blend that was “out of step” from where we thought our path would take us.
ABOUT THE COFFEE
Bochica Colombia Fully Washed
This Bochica blend is sourced from smallholders in Colombia’s most famous coffee-growing regions (Huila, Tomila, Caldas, Risaralda, Antioquia). The diversity in climate and geographic conditions of Colombia, produces a variety of unique flavors in coffee and ensures Colombia produces fresh crops nearly all year round. This coffee is not only notable for its exceptional quality, Sucafina Specialty Importers also puts a premium from every bag sold to support sustainability projects in partner communities.
Ethiopia Natural Sidamo Grade 3
Sidamo is one of the three trademarked coffee growing regions (Harrar and Yigracheffe). Centered in the Great Rift Valley, along the western half of Ethiopia. The Great Rift Valley is home to some of the oldest known fossils of humankind, suggesting its importance in early human development. Like much of the coffee produced in Ethiopia, this coffee comes from a collection of small farmers who hand pick their coffee and deliver it to a local area washing station. This station processes the coffee and prepares it for export.
